Like every nonprofit, Edinburgh Steiner School Trust depends on the philanthropic support of the people who care about our school and our mission. And like every independent school, tuition alone does not support everything we do to educate the children of our school. How You Can Play A Part
Edinburgh Steiner School has invested over £1million in our campus since 2017, with the help of those who care about our ethos and our school. Planning permission has been granted to build our Seedlings in the grounds of our C-listed villa, within the protected conservation area of Merchiston. ESS offers an important alternative to mainstream education in Edinburgh. Phase Three will see two purpose-built Seedlings Playgroups in Edinholme Gardens for our youngest pupils. A monthly donation recognising our distinctive approach to learning would greatly help us to realise this ambitious Growing Spaces Project. We need to raise £0.5 million for work to begin:
Monthly
£2/mo - Children can take the first steps towards independence in a simple and unhurried Steiner Waldorf environment without the notions of ‘achievement’,’ success’, or ‘failure’ at age two.
£8/mo - Having a Class Teacher for up to eight years in the Lower School provides a haven of stability and continuity which is extremely rare in other schools.
£12/mo - all twelve Classes are situated within the protected conservation acres of our school grounds.
£16/mo - ESS offers a Waldorf Steiner curriculum that spans sixteen years of a pupil's childhood.
£25/mo - Growing Spaces Project aims to create classrooms for up to 25 pupils per class.
£50/mo - Fifty educators from Denmark, Norway, Finland and the UK (including from ESS) collaborated through the ACTS project to create an innovative suite of Integrated Education qualifications, that are now on the Ofqual register and offered at our school.
£ determined by donor - We aspire to develop responsible, creative and freethinking young people, who will contribute to society and a sustainable environment with vision and purpose.

£100 - up to one hundred subjects across every discipline are delivered through Steiner Waldorf's unique Main Lesson Programme
£380 - The growing Steiner Waldorf school in Edinburgh has a roll of up to three hundred and eighty pupils
£ determined by donor - Steiner Waldorf is now the largest and fastest growingeducation movement in the world, represented in some 90 countries, in every continent (bar Antarctica), from Durban to Darwin, Silicon Valley to Shefa'amr, Embu to Edinburgh. There are now 1,200 schools and over 2,000 Kindergartens globally. Edinburgh Steiner School is a beacon of Steiner Waldorf education in Scotland.
